new tester from ali? any good

As I am looking closer at this unit I am wondering what data protocol is used and If I can tap into it, read it, and graph it.
Ah another challenge.......
Sounds like something else to put on my plate.
I got to finish the diyBMS thread first though.;)

Hi Wolf,

Did you ever get around to scoping the programming pins on the board to see if any serial data is being transmitted?

I've been really interested in this for a while. If I can get serial data from it, it's a no brainer.

I'm also interested to find out. I have made some photos of the board. There is a CD4051 - 74HC595 and one without name. My guess is that we have to look at the 74HC595. It has a serial in and serial out and 7xParallel out - It's difficult to see where all lanes go, because some of them through the board behind the cell holders - but what I can see is that 4 of the parallel ports go to each of the LED's.
What do you think?

The chip that isn't marked is going to be the main MCU. The four lines coming out of it may just be for programming, but I'd be surprised if they didn't have it firing out serial data, very useful for testing.
Someone needs to scope those pins and look for a signal.

EDIT: I've just noticed, this is NOT the same layout as the one I was sent images from by someone else.

First thing I spotted was the programming pins to the MCU.

I know someone on here said he had two and one was better than the other, wonder if we can tell which is which by the programming header?

Just a guess... The 20 pin MCU could be a STM8S003F3P6 - if it is, then the pins are SPI

Pin 17 not connected
Pin 16 SPI_MOSI
Pin 15 SPI_SCK
Pin 14 or 13 CLOCK

How's the ease of use, and interface? For those of us who aren't interested in data logging and just want to test cells and sharpie the results on the cell. If you were to compare it to an Opus for example. The price point is great. I'm not a fan of it using 5v rather than 12v. And I take your recommendation of them being accurate. Just wondering about the process, how easy it is to load a cell, select discharge test

What's "auto"?

I would consider replacing my testing setup entirely based on your accuracy report, because the price point is killer. Thanks for the review!

What are the terminals above each battery slot actually for?? I powered each terminal thinking I could power the board via direct power but the screen doesn't come on (the battery holders are energized though).

They enable the use an external holder for each slot.

Hello guys. This Banber tester they make at least in two modifications (versions). Differences: green or white bottom lid, fan attached with screws or pins with springs, different PCB which contains programing and power sources points in different positions... PCBs are also ready for swapping to 21700 cell holders. This one will probably fit in (four singles, double holders will not fit).
