Welcome!

The Opus BT-C3100 is popular because it is cheap. I like the SkyRC MC3000.

I'm also very much a learner in this area, but extensive reading of this forum (and some other stuff) shows that the very cheap TP4056 modules are very popular for charging (notably they give a gentle start to undervoltage batteries, which the Opus doesn't).
Using plural cheap TP4056s for charging keeps the Opus free for testing.

There is an unresolved discussion about how consistant different examples of the Opus might be (only matters if you have more than one) and its absolute accuracy (which only matters if you are comparing Opus results against those from a different design of tester).

For the little over 20 that I paid for my Opus, it is good value, and will have justified itself when my collection of NiMH AA& AAA cells has been categorised.

Dougal I have to ask where you brought your opus as I'm interested in getting one given the low price but on amazon they are 37.99 so would much appreciate any direction you could point me in

Search for "Opus Bt 3100" on ebay and you get alot of them around 30USD

My Opus came from a Banggood "flash sale". About 23 delivered, so I just grabbed one without further comparison shopping.
