Hello, I am posting this so that Ihave evidence to my cell count,so far I have just shy of five thousand.I started collecting laptop batteries a few months ago, and have been looking forward to setting up and running my own powerwall. I am currently in the process of closing on a new home and I can't wait to start getting my powerwall setup A.S.A.P. I work two IT jobs which grants me access to a ton of 18650's. I will post a few pictures of my progress so far, and keep it updated as things progress.

This picture is of my tested and cleaned cells, I will be using the orange cells as my exterior. My packs will consist of 120 cells, all the cells upon the desk are above 2000 mAh.

Here is my pile of soon to be cleaned cells, they have been tested as good, but they have not been tested for capacity.

Another box of my exterior cells.

My first attempt at some packs, was looking at 100 cells a pack but decided on 120, I also realized I had way more orange cells than green. :-/

Is it just me that expected something to show in that wall of cells? :) Like a text or figure hehe

What do you use the trowel for?

Thanks,

-John-

I use the trowel to clean the hard glue off of my cells, that was just a hard flattool that was in reach, I was usually using a letter opener. I can post a picture of my process. :D

I would love to know more about your process! Given the number of cells you have processed, you must have a few tricks you have figured out.

Thanks,

-John-

My average capacity is 2300 and for my junk rate, its about 1:300.

1:300 junk rate seems very low, and very good for you! What causes the battery packs to be discarded if they are in such good shape?

We have a surplussystem, when the warranties run out we toss the laptops, most of which have never left the docking stations. And since they never leave the dock the batteries never discharge and are always kept topped off. :D

I need a friend that has your job!
I'm having a helluva time finding good cells!
Congrats on your wall, with unabused cells like that, it'll last you a LONG time!

Its been a while, and I have since been occupied by work, and a new home with plenty of issues and projects. But I have still found time to work on my power wall. I figured it was time for an update. I have installed my power wall in the garage I live in
