Powerwall Design - insight needed

Hi everyone,

I'm now really close to building out my first big bank at 48V (14s80? p) and would appreciate insight on design.I'm for sure doing 14s, but still haven't settled on the # of cells in parallel (at least 80, but possibly higher).

Most packs I have seen are long and narrow (4x20) with a long U-shaped bus-bar. I'm considering that style, but also contemplating a more box-like 8x10 configuration using a bus-bar style more like what Glubux used (http://secondlifestorage.com/t-Glubux-s-Powerwall )

I would really like to hear anyone's experiences good/bad or thoughts on advantages/disadvantages with the design they chose. Including the expandability of a design.

I know that in the end I need to choose what fits my situation, but I'd rather build once than have an 'ooops - wish I had known that' and start over.

Thanks very much.

Eric

The ushape is simple to build. No extra soldering or such. Just bend it all the way round and crimp it in the end and your done.

i do 80p now but if Im going to expand thats going to be 160p. Ie stack one on top and do 1 more u-shape busbar. Nothing more fancy than that. But that depends if I go above 4 strings of 14s80p.
