Hi. My names Alex. I'm from the south-east of little England, near to a place called London.
I work as a motorbike mechanic whist studying to become an engineer. I've been watching Pete and Joe and a few others on YouTube for about a year now, and this summer I've decided to try and solar power my garden pond. After seeing so many people have such positive results with the 18650s, I figured I'd give it a try.
My pond only draws about 200W or so, but this load is 24 hours a day.
To start with I will beusing 4 *320Wcracked panels for proof of concept. I'm using a very similar methodology for charge/discharge testing as DIY Tech & Repairsuses.
My specs for 18650s will be:
Capacity above 2000 mAh
Internal resistance below 200 mOhms
Charge temperature below 35 degrees C (@ 1 A)
Discharge temperature below 45 degrees C (@ 1 A)
Voltage above 4 V after 1 week of charging to 4.2 V
Hoping to share a lot of this fun and games with all of you. For now, here is my charging station I made this week. I plan to add Arduino temperature monitoring to it next week.
Peas n love.
Alex
