Hello from Puerto Rico my friends. I have recently put all my attention into Solar since the pass of hurricane Maria had devastaded the whole island and have left 100% without electricity. Lots of generators have been put to use all around, sleeping have become a rare thing and gas lines are crazy. Not to mention the amount of money spent to keep the generator running.
I have been considering going solar since 2007 but never had the cash to even flirt with it untill now. I have beenconfiguring the PV system and planned all the way down to the batteries needed and was doing my research on SLA batteries because it was what I knew what was used back in 2007 untill I "saw the light" and watchedjehugarcia's powerwall youtube video then HB's... The point is I'm in love with powerwallsand, as a DIY guy, I want to give it a go. The only setback is getting the cells. Not many vendors ship to Puerto Rico even thought it is a US territory with USPS, FedEx, UPS doing business just as any other state. Also, not many technology business are in shapeto open any time soon if ever because of the devastation.
Anyways, as I do my research of how to get the cells and packs configuration I wanted to scream HELLO!

Welcome, i hope you weathered the storm ok. I've seen a lot of images from the destruction there. The hurricane season this year has been so devastating. One good thing about living in the Arizona desert, never had to experience something like that.

Hello & Welcome EY

Welcome m8!

Building with just simple 18650 cells may not be the sollution for everyone. It might be easier to get LiFePo4 12V packs directly and use them or other types. There is plenty of form-factors and types out there.

Thank you, luckily nothing major happened to me or my family, just some cosmetic dammage that I guess it was time to remodel anyways.

There seems to be a lot to learn. When I started configuring the system I thought lead acid was the only source available but now I've seen there are other ways to go. BTW nice setup you have there.
