I wanna say how great the implementation of this board is for collaboration on a shared hobby(?) that is still really in its infancy. You guys are writing the book on what's possible and best ways to achieve it. I have learned a ton from you guys that I won't have to relearn for myself. I'm sure its only a matter of time until ElonM logs on
This creates a tapestry where we can advance the art much faster than any of us could do alone.
Myself? Several years ago I found myself living/traveling from my van. So I created a system of electronics that drew from about 3KW of lead-acid storage. I wired my 225amp alternator to the batteries in the back via 2ga cables and lotsa protection and monitoring. This allowed me to run my inverter for hours at a time (about 800w typical draw) before I had to start the engine to quickly recharge. Can only bulk charge Lead batteries at 100+amps to 85% or so. So I set up a separate system to top them off to 100% with the engine off.
But now we have LiPos, so my interest was renewed.
I'm currently living in a travel-trailer and am preparing it for full self-sufficiency before I move out to the Bush and off-grid.
