Has anybody received on of these Opus battery testers from these cheap ebay listings?

There is a series of listings, each for 10 or less items, and only one item per buyer per 10 day period, from low-feedback sellers from either china or Canada.

It seems suspicious, so I am looking for someone that actually received a working unit from one of these auctions before I risk my money.

Here is a search that shows some of these auctions.

Thanks,

Last one that did put up like that was fraud but i got all my money back so no issues. Ebay is good at that.

Looks like scam to me.. the name, the seller's reviews are all private listings, thats not a good sign either. You can't contact the previous buyers.

Ahh no way.. my bet is 99% fraud.
But if you have time for this do it and if it's really a fraud, you'll get back your money as Daromer said.

Ok, well I will fess up, I am one of those suckers.... It is only like 14.00 I am out and of course I can file a complain and get my money back. I guy can dream, I was going to order more if I get it..... but your probably right, it is likely a scam.

Of course, you could end up with a perfectly good working unit, too.

But, keep caution close by and not thrown into the wind.

Note: it's possible these could be stolen units that are being sold on eBay to get rid of the evidence :p

Ordered one as well, as Robert said, it's only 14$...
We'll see if it shows up, or complain to eBay when it doesn't :)

As I see it, it is one of three things:

1.) It is a bogus user scamming eBay customer for which the solution is: Let eBay deal with it and get my money back.
2.) It is a pallet that fell off a OPUS truck in Shenzhen China and we get a good charger with no warranty.
3.) It is a clone, maybe we get a functional charger.

I am sure these chargers do not cost this much in China, with labor rates and material costs so low it is possible this could be good.

I ordered one a while back. There was a post on Facebook discussing this as well. A few days after I ordered mine, eBay pulled the listing and banned the seller. I had to open an "item not received" case, where eBay refunded my money. Don't waste your time trying this like I did. Buy from a real seller...

I was exactly in the same situation, scammer refunded one and not the other (he try really hard to make some money !) so Paypal is refunding me.

I have three of them ordered to arrive different times. I suspect they all our scams but it sure is taking eBay a long time to determine. The seller is still advertising them. I guess I will wait a few more weeks and then if I do not get it I will open a complaint with eBay and PayPal. They are usually good about this. I really wished they were real. I really need to build that Giant Opus Test station.

And so it begins, what are these guys hoping to gain.......

It really is a freaking waste of time, but you believe in the crap because 13.75 is probably 90% profit for the OPUS folks.

I would still wait a few more days before filing.

I had bought 2 128Gb microSD's. Both users went to deleted account status. I received both cards. Altho, they were a little later than was expected. The first card came in 2 days late, the 2nd card came in 4 days late. But I did get them. I was surprised, actually. On the second card, I actually started the refund process. But when I got the 2nd card, I went ahead and canceled the process; as I won't be one of those guys that tries to get something for free through dishonesty.

So now I have 2 128Gb modules, one for my tablet and one for my phone :) So, you maybe surprised. But, I wouldn't get your hopes up, tho. Just be prepared for disappointment, though.

I am wearing my disappointed cap already, I will wait to file a claim in the event there is a miracle. I ended up order 3 of them at around the 14.00 price.

Yepper, eBay must have had its customer service staff come back from vacation.... two emails from them....

Yeah, that's what happened to both of my SD cards. But, like I said, I got them both. I was highly surprised when I did, though. Maybe we can all cross our fingers, toes, eyes, legs and arms for ya :p

Hi, just to let you know people have figured out how to make SD cards and thumb drives misreport there true capacity. They work properly until you try and put more data on them than what they can hold. There are programs that can test for this and bad blocks. I have personally seen a cheap Chinese thumb drive that would only hold half of what Windows said it would hold.

I went ahead and filed a claim today. The automated reply from ebay was that that after 4 days without communication from the seller that ebay will be willing to intercede. I figured that I would go ahead and start the clock running.

I noticed that where there used to be several listing for $13.40-ish chargers, now there are none...

My suspicion is that they are running this scam continuously for many small value items on many different accounts. Is ebay really going to try to get $13.40 back from some anonymous seller in China? So the scammer is making hundreds of dollars a day, but each individual scam is so small as to not be worth chasing after. And all of the bogus accounts hide how many scams one scammer is involved with. I notice that the accounts seem to be about 6 months old, and have one or two transactions, and zero to one positive feedback. Which is easy to accomplish if you have multiple accounts. Just sell yourself something for $0.25 and then give yourself a glowing feedback...

Looking at the past auctions for this item and sorting the cheapest ones first, it seems that about 15/20 of the auction listings come back as canceled. The remaining ones are all by sellers with little to no feedback.

Thanks John, I will go ahead and get the ball rolling. You know, I believe one of them said US based. The other thing that p15535 me off is that when you order a real one for say 34.00, it takes like a month and a half to get it.... I have to figure they churn these things out by the thousands, 13.50 seems like a price that they could make profit... I bet they cost about a .75 cents in material and .25 in labor....

I just submitted 3 separate requests, eBay made it difficult though because after you submit one you have to log out and clear cache or it will believe your submitting for the same sale, even though ever sale has a different ID.
