@Ivo. That's exactly what I had in mind. Yes, it's prolly overkill, but I like it.
I'm still harvesting cells, haven't even begun to test them yet, but this is what I'm thinking: I give each cell a unique ID number, which I write on the cell once it's been freed from its pack. I also peel off the label on the laptop battery pack and write the ID numbers on the label and keep it, so I can cross-reference. Lots of info on the labels: Make, model, Voltage, Wh, Ah, Serial number (maybe even date code?)
I'll record: Date opened, initial voltage, Make and Model of cell (which I can cross-reference to the cell database on this forum) and then continue capturing info as it goes through the testing process (which I haven't started yet) Things like date charged/discharged, capacity, Voltage after 4 weeks, etc, etc.
What are you capturing/recording?

I'm a MySQL DBA, I could build a basic website, with a database backed for a tracking system. It then could assign ID's for reach battery.
Chris, are you talking of a public, community wide database for each individual cell? Whoa!
