I have packs of Samsung 60AH 3.7v Samsung prismatic cells. I'd like to use Batrium, seems like a great setup.

I have 33 packs that are currently in 5s (165 of3.7v 60ah packs). If I go with a Batrium system then I think I am going to need 165 cell mons.

I am wondering if I could take apart the packs, then put 2 cells in parrallel and use the block mons (or long mons) on those cells. Could the longmons handle that kind of stress?

I know that HBpowerwall said he thought it would be ok to usepacks of 80-100 cylindrical cells together to 1 longmon, so it made me think I may be able to parralel them tosave money on batrium longmons.

It cost me about $75-$110 per kwh for the batteries so it seems a little funny to pay $75+- per kwh for premium BMS.

Thanks! image_kxcblx.jpg

Im running 390Ah per longmon here and it works like a charm. As long as the setup in made in such a sense that you dont have to much discharge that the long mon can keep up balancing there is no problem. There is users with 500+Ah per Longmon.

Imagine balancing such as it will only balance when you top charge or are idle at close to 100%SOC. In my case thats 3-4 hours per day i get to balance. Thats not much in terms of 1A per pack. Not many Ah in total per day :) So thats what you have to work with and decide. If you keep your self below 300Ah you are good to go but larger packs do work but you might have to help the packs in balance in beginning.
