12V small semi portable Powerwall

I have a small piece of land that is completely off-grid except water and my plan is to build a 'tiny house' and live there, like the good ol' days :) but of course with modern technology like my laptop, interweb and phone!

So my first goal, was to build a small powerwall that could keep my electronic devices (laptop, 2 screen's, phone, interweb) alive for 24h.

Why semi portable? I will be that guy driving around with a solar panel on the top of my car roof charging through the sun and the alternator :roll:

defiantly looks nice and tidy - personally don't like the black tape wrapped around it for heat reasons, but fantastic for general protection.

Yea, you are right, and after watching your last video I might need some 3M High Temperature Flue Tape
 
You can also get some large diameter heat shrink by the meter from places like aliexpress. This is where I get my heat shrink. At something like $5/meter for the really big stuff, it's quite affordable IMO.
 
Also, it's funny how everything is relative. when I read "semi-portable 12V Powerwall" I was thinking something that looked more along the lines of my portable little 12V powerwall I recently made:

Nice build. This is along the lines of what I want to do. Something small. I am looking at running just the overhead lighting in my Workshop and Kitchen. Converting (Mix use 110v) them to LEDs. Lights to turn on with motion sensors when dark. I plan to make a similar all mount to clamp over a doorway

I'm new to this so I"m still trying to understand how everyone comes up with the voltages. Isn't yours 16volt? Each pack 4.2 volts.


What are all the parts that you have used (Solar, charger etc.)

Yes, in theory it's a 16.8V - 11.2V system but due to limitations in the solar-charger and inverter (12dc - ac) + the top/bottom balance also for better health in the used cell's. The range is: 15.5V - 12V --- 3.87V - 3.0V per cell.

Just received my new psu for charging my bank! :) when no sun. Lot's of power for a cheap price *excited*

It is a constant current model!

Wonder how the 18650's will behave and at what voltage I should disconnect (70% - 90%)? anyone know what happen's if you keep a cc on the battery for a longer period of time?
