Beginners Guide to Processing 18650 Cells | Cell Database

Ok.  So I had a little time to work on my build this weekend.  

I listed out all my battery capacities and using repackr.com spec'd my first small test pack.

(yes i know, there are some junk batteries in there)

After figuring out which batteries I was going to use I cleaned them up, removed the sleeves and resleeved them.  I 3dprinted the top holder and here we go

So now I am up to the next part of figuring out the best way to wire up this pack.  Meaning the physical wiring.  Should I use a fuse wire to connect everything?  then use a big inline fuse between the pack and whatever I am powering?  

Thoughts?

For a power wall and if you have the stuff fuses on each cell just brings you some slight extra safety. The increased resistance due to those fuses is not a big deal on power walls for most of us.
And then you just keep 1 fuse per string or per the full pack depending on how you set it up.
Im using 1 ANL fuse per String and then 1 master.... To much? Smile Might be but i keep it safe and have no issues with that extra resistance due to the massive amount i have today.
(I should most likely updated my project page... But i have to wait some more due to still ongoing work.... Smile )

Depending on the max current i would use 35AWG tinned copper fuse wire for fusing and either using 1.5mm2 or 2.5mm2 that i twist for the bus bar.

there is a radioshack down the street from me going out of business and dumping all their stuff.  I may grab a bunch of wire tonight and see what all I can come up with.

When soldered to bus bars, it has been tested around 18-20A I believe. If you take a piece of it and connect the negative/positive terminal of a single cell, it burns up instantly, which is what I'm going for. Short circuit protection. I think using 35AWG, you are going to see increased resistance which is undesirable in a battery pack of any kind.

Picked up a long roll of the red on amazon. Just cut off about 71mm. Works great!
